The NSW Place and Road Naming Proposal System (Proposal System) provides a single point of access to submit and manage place and road name proposals. The Proposal System is primarily for use by local government councils and other relevant government authorities. First time users will be required to register for an account via an online registration form.
Members of the public, can:
- Propose a geographical place name without registering for an account here: https://proposals.gnb.nsw.gov.au/public/place-names/create
- Register for an account to propose a geographical place name and track the progress of the application here: https://proposals.gnb.nsw.gov.au/register
- Search geographical place names here: https://proposals.gnb.nsw.gov.au/public/geonames/search
- View or comment on current geographical place name proposals here: https://proposals.gnb.nsw.gov.au/currentproposals
- Check the suitability of a road name here: https://proposals.gnb.nsw.gov.au/public/road-names/evaluation
- Propose or query a road name by talking to the relevant local government council.
If you are representing local government, or another government authority, you have the option to register an account for road naming or place naming, or both.
