Description:   A scattered settlement about 4km WSW of Richmond, bounded on the N by Grose River, the E by Nepean River and the SW by the City of the Blue Mountains. Boundaries within the Hawkesbury Council area shown on map GNB3716.
Meaning:   For: deep water. (McCarthy; 1963).
Origin:   Aboriginal.
History:   The name derived from an Aboriginal healer (Yal-lah-Mein-Di) who operated on one of Governor Phillip's guides who was suffering pain.
