Description:   A town on the Bombala River and Monaro Highway about 60km WSW of Bega and about 90 km S of Cooma.
Meaning:   Aboriginal: meeting of the waters. (Reed 1967) Also: said to have come from an Aboriginal term for 'meeting of waters' but no linguistic evidence for this. (Appleton,1992).
Origin:   Aboriginal. Bombala was established in 1851.
History:   Originally Ngarigo Aboriginal land. (Appleton,1992).
