Description:   A watercourse about 140 km long. It rises at the junction of the Great Dividing Range and Mount Royal Range and flows generally N, NW and then W into the Namoi River about 5 km S of Keepit Dam.
Origin:   Discovered and named by John Oxley in 1818 after Sir Robert Peel who later became Prime Minister of England.
