Description:   Town within the city of Blue Mountains, on the Blue Mountains Range about 5.5 km NNW of Blackheath.
Origin:   It was known in the early nineteenth century as One Tree Hill and Broughton's Water Hole. When the railway was constructed in May 1868, Governor Belmore felt that the name Victoria, in honour of the then Queen, would be appreciated and to avoid confusion with the adjoining state, the name Mount Victoria was applied.
