Description:   A city on the north-west fringes of the Blue Mountains about 5 km WNW of Clarence Trig Station and about 6km E of Walker Trig Station.
Origin:   Named in 1827 by Hamilton Hume whilst he was seeking an alternative route for Cox's Road down the western escarpment of the Blue Mountains He named Lithow's Valley in honour of Governor Brisbane's private secretary, William Lithgow, who later became the Auditor General of NSW.
