Description:   A mostly perennial stream rising about 6 km south of Waukivory. It flows generally west and south for about 21 km into Mammy Johnsons River.
Origin:   Wards River was named by Robert Dawson, agent of the Australian Agricultural Company (AACo) in February 1826. It was named after William Ward a member of the first Court of Directors, AACo. (John Atchison memo March 1993)
