Description:   Locality about 12 km NE of Towrang. Boundaries within the Upper Lachlan Council shown on map GNB5110. Boundaries within the Goulburn Mulwaree Council shown on map GNB3753.
Origin:   The name Brayton is said to have been suggested by a local resident who was a fan of Lillie (?) Brayton, a musical comedy star associated with the musical 'So Long Lettie'.
History:   Previously known as longreach, taking the name of a large property in the vicinity. Due to confusion with the Longreach in Queensland the name was changed in 1913, to Brayton.
