Description:   A mountain about 6 km W by N of the town of Uki and 14 km WSW of Murwillumbah. This feature is dual named.
Meaning:   From the Bandjalung-Yugambeh dialect chain word "Wollumbin" meaning the patriach of mountains. J.A. Gresty. The Numinbah Valley. P67, 1947.
Origin:   Wollumbin is the indigenous name for this mountain. Aboriginal/European. Named by Capt.James Cook who saw this peak when his ship was approaching the coast on 16th May 1770.
History:   A sacred site. The name Wollumbin refers the whole of the central vent and its surrounding ring dykes. The first recorded European use of the name Wollumbin is in the naming of the cattle Pastoral Selection etc.
