Origin:   In 1954, Lt-Col Ferguson DSO MC Psc requested that the Barracks be be named "Bardia Barracks" in honor of the 16th Division. The 16th Division (formed at Ingleburn) and the 6th Division were the first Australians in action in World War II and their first engagement was the successful taking of Bardia in North Africa.
