Description:   A locality about 10 km E by N of Neville and about 13 km S by W of Newbridge.
Origin:   Probably named after Thomas Hobby who accompanied Oxley on his exploration expeditions or his son.
History:   Letter to NSW Geographic Names Board in 1905 stated that Hobby Yards was named after Captain Hobby or Hobbs, a pioneer of the district, Source, The Archives of the NSW Board of Geographic Names.
