Meaning:   Aboriginal 'Boonyan' for 'pigeons resting place'. Early name Reid's Flats after D. Reid, an early settler in 1830's. Name changed 1858. (Back to Cooma Celebration; P.23). Also: 'place of pigeons'. (McCarth- y; 1963).
