Description:   A village about 76 km SE of Bourke on the Mitchell Highway.
Origin:   The name was given to the pastoral station in the proximity of an outcrop of rock. (Reed, 1969). Also: the name come from a rock hole set in granite, the outcrop being called Bai by the Nyammba tribe. This became the Bye Rockhole, then Bye Rock, then Byrock. (See letter 23.5.97 on file GNB3632).
