Description:   A perennial stream rising on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Ridge about 6.4km south of Black Springs. It flows generally north by west for about 72km to its confluence with Fish River about 9.6km south south east of Bathurst to become the Macquarie River.
Origin:   Named in December 1813 by Surveyor G W Evans after after the family of Governor Macquarie's wife. (Surveyor Evans diary note 8 December 1813) (Information from Fourteen Journeys Over the Blue Mts. of N.S.W. 1813-1841 - George Mackaness)
History:   Originally named by Surveyor GW Evans as Campbell River.
