Description: | A coastal town South of Airforce Beach and about 9.5km SE by E of the town of Woodburn. |
Origin: | Named after a marine surveyor, Lt Evans, RN who carried out the first marine survey of the coastline in the area. It is said that Admiral Rous named the headland but this does not appear in Rous' log. or Evan Evans, was Captain of the 'Water Witch' which he owned. A boy of 14 he went to sea and was twice shipwrecked (See history sect.) |
