Origin:   Originally Bandjalang Aboriginal land. (Appleton; 1992).
History:   Proclaimed village of Brunswick 20th March, 1885, but known as Brunswick Heads. Brunswick River discovered in 1828 by John Rous in 'HMS Rainbow' and named it after Queen Caroline of Brunswick.
