Warrumbungle Locality Boundary Amendments - Binnaway, Purlewaugh and Tambar Springs


Notice of Proposal to Amend Locality Boundaries
in the Warrumbungle and Dubbo Local Government Areas

PURSUANT to the provisions of Section 8 of the Geographical Names Act, 1966, the Geographical Names Board hereby notifies that it proposes to amend the locality boundaries between Dunedoo and Elong Elong to create the locality of Cobbora in the Warrumbungle Shire and Dubbo Regional Local Government Areas as shown on map GNB5396-2-A.

The Board is also proposing to amend the localities of Binnaway, Purlewaugh and Tambar Springs to encompass the localities of Weetaliba, Ropers Road, Box Ridge and Bomera in the Warrumbungle Local Government Area as shown on map GNB5396-2-A.

Weetaliba, Ropers Road, Box Ridge and Bomera will all be retained in the Geographical Names Register as Rural Place.

Copies of map GNB5396-2-A showing the proposed locality boundary amendments will be on display at:
- Warrumbungle Shire Council Offices located at 20-22 John Street, Coonabarabran and 59 Binnia Street, Coolah. You can also contact Council for additional locations.
- The Dubbo Regional Council, Wellington office located at the corner of Nanima Crescent and Warne Street, Wellington.
- G Walters and Co located on Dubbo Street, Elong Elong.

The maps will be on display from Wednesday 9 August 2017 until Monday 11 September 2017.

A copy of map GNB5396-2-A will also be on display at the office of the Geographical Names Board, Spatial Services, 346 Panorama Avenue, Bathurst NSW 2795 during the above dates. Details of this proposal may also be viewed and submissions lodged on the Geographical Names Boards website at

Any person wishing to make comment upon this proposal may within one (1) month of the date of this notice contact the Secretary of the Board with that comment.

In accordance with Section 9 of the Geographical Names Act 1966 all submissions lodged may be subject to a Government Information (Public Access) application and may be viewed by a third party to assist the Board in considering this proposal.
